After defeating Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, the New York Jets face Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. What is the # 1 key to win the NFL game in Week 3?

Chiefs trying to right wrongs as Jets visit with hot offense The Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t get out of their own way in a frustrating Week 2 loss in Houston, a litany of penalties, turnovers and miscues last Sunday spoiling their chance of a 2-0 start. Probably made it tough to watch film of the Jets this week, too. New York did just about everything right

After sacking Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals 7 times in Week 1, Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Leonard Williams had zero sacks of Tyrod Taylor of the Buffalo Bills. In Week 3, the Jets square off against the offensive line of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jets defensive line vs Chiefs offensive line

Alex Smith is a solid quarterback for the Chiefs this season. However, his offensive line is failing him. In Week 1, he was sacked 3 times against the San Diego Chargers. J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans sacked him 4 times in Week 2. Plus Smith also fumbled the football twice and lost them both last week. Not only has his offensive line given up sacks but they are also letting Alex get hit to the ground. In 2016, he has been hit 16 times (6 times by the Chargers and 10 times by the Texans). The tackles, guards and center can’t keep his jersey clean.

Enter the Jets defensive line. After 2 weeks in 2016, Gang Green is third in the NFL in sack rate. Not only are Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Leonard Williams getting sacks but defensive tackle Steve McLendon is also penetrating offensive lines (2 sacks). The strength of the Jets D-line matches well against the weakness of the offensive line of Kansas City. As good as Smith is, if his O-line is constantly letting Muhammad and Co. get through, he won’t have time to throw the football to Jeremy, Travis Kelce and his receivers. The more Alex gets hit, the more likely that he will lose the ball, just like how he fumbled the ball away 2 times against the Texans. Even he admits that the defensive line of New York has many talented DTs and DEs.

“They’re good. Every guy out there can go and get after it, run and pass.”

If the D-line of Gang Green can get through the Chiefs O-line to Alex Smith, the New York Jets will win the matchup and defeat Andy Reid and the Chiefs.
