METLIFE STADIUM
WIN. LOSS. WIN. LOSS. Let’s play everyone’s favorite NFL game. We will see which games the New York Jets will win or lose in their 2016 NFL schedule.

New York Jets Schedule at NFL.com

Week 1 Bengals @ Jets

LOSS: The Cincinnati Bengals have a stiffer defensive line with DT Geno Atkins, DE Carlos Dunlap and Domata Peko than the Jets and LBs Vontaze Burfict and Rey Maualuga will force Ryan Fitzpatrick into turnovers. QB Andy Dalton, RB Jeremy Hill and WR A.J. Green will find the holes in the Jets secondary. The Bengals are a more solid team than New York and will win by 2 touchdowns. Jets record falls to 0-1.

Week 2 Jets @ Bills

LOSS: Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan knows all the routes of the spread offense of Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. His defense caused Fitzpatrick to throw multiple interceptions in both meetings in 2015 and stopped Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker cold. QB Tyrod Tyler, RB McCoy and WR Sammy Watkins will do enough against Jets defense to beat Gang Green by a score. Jets record falls to 0-2.

Week 3 Jets @ Chiefs

LOSS: Kansas City is a better team than the Jets. Alex Smith is a game manager who doesn’t commit turnovers. LBs Tamba Hali and Justin Houston wreak havok, Cairo Santos is a solid kicker and head coach Andy Reid manages the game better than Todd Bowles. The Chiefs will pull away from the Jets in a blowout. Jets record falls to 0-3.

Week 4 Seahawks @ Jets

LOSS: Although both teams are similar, Russell Wilson will make enough plays with his legs against the Jets pass rush and the Seahawks defense will contain Ryan Fitzpatrick and Co. to beat them by 10 points. Jets record falls to 0-4.

Week 5 Jets @ Steelers

LOSS: RB Le’Veon Bell will be back from his 2 game suspension as Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Pittsburgh’s high octane offense overmatch the Jet’s defense. Fitzpatrick and the offense will struggle to score more than 30 points to keep up with them. Jets record falls to 0-5.

Week 6 Jets @ Cardinals

LOSS: Darrelle Revis and the secondary won’t be able to contain Carson Palmer, RB David Johnson and WR Larry Fitzgerald. The blitzing defense of LB Chandler Jones, CB Patrick Peterson and safety Tyrann Mathieu will force the Jets QB into mistakes as Bruce Arians outcoaches Todd Bowles. Jets record falls to 0-6.

Week 7 Ravens @ Jets

WIN: Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker will find all the holes in Baltimore’s porous secondary as Mohammad Wilkerson and the Jets defense stop Joe Flacco and his lack of weapons. The 1st time during the season where Gang Green is clearly a better team than their opponent. Jets record improves to 1-6.

Week 8 Jets @ Browns

WIN: Injury prone RGIII. No WRs. No star players on Cleveland defense. Todd Bowles is a better coach than Hue Jackson and New York beats the talentless Browns by 2 TDs. Jets record improves to 2-6.

Week 9 Jets @ Dolphins

WIN: Rookie Dolphins head coach Adam Gase is in over his head as underachiever QB Ryan Tannehill continues to flop; Ndamukong Suh and Miami’s over hyped defense can’t stop Fitzpatrick and the spread offense. Jets win by 2 scores. Jets record improves to 3-6.

Week 10 Rams @ Jets

WIN: 2 good defenses. Gang Green does just enough on offense against DT Aaron Donald and Co. as the Jets defense contain QB Case Keenam (who?) and his WRs (who?). Nick Folk kicks a 40 yard field goal as New York squeaks past Los Angeles. Jets record improves to 4-6.

Week 11 BYE

Week 12 Patriots @ Jets

WIN: After blowing out the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11, New England travels on the road and have a letdown against the Jets. Just like New York’s defense confused Tom Brady in their 2nd meeting in 2015, the Jets slip past the Patriots by a field goal. Jets record improves to 5-6.

Week 13 Colts @ Jets

WIN: Andrew Luck’s struggles continue from 2015 and he commits turnovers against Sheldon Richardson and his team mates as Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker dominate the secondary of Indianapolis. Chuck Pagano is still clueless as the Colts head coach and Todd Bowles manages the game better than him. NY goes on to win by 10 points. Jets record improves to 6-6.

Week 14 49ers @ Jets

WIN: QB Blaine Gabbert. Enough said. Gang Green defeat head coach Chip Kelly and this rebuilding college team by 2 TDs. Jets record improves to 7-6.

Week 15 Dolphins @ Jets

WIN: Miami is the same team since Week 9 and have not improved so the Jets beat them again for a series sweep of the season just like in 2015. Jets record improves to 8-6.

Week 16 Jets @ Patriots

LOSS: New England head coach Bill Belichick makes adjustments from their 1st meeting in Week 12 and Tom Brady exposes the Jets defense as they beat NY by 2 scores, handing them their 7th loss and likely pushing New York out of the playoffs. Jets record falls to 8-7.

Week 17 Bills @ Jets

LOSS: Rex Ryan continues to confuse Ryan Fitzpatrick with his defense and Ryan’s multiple INTs doom the Jets and any hope of making the playoffs. For the 2nd consecutive year, Buffalo sweeps Gang Green and keeps them out of the playoffs. Jets record falls to 8-8.

Conclusion

The first 6 games against playoff caliber NFL teams put the New York Jets in an 0-6 hole, which requires them to win the last 10 games to go to the playoffs. From weeks 7 to 15, they face lesser quality teams with weaknesses, leading Gang Green to go an 8 game winning streak. Unfortunately, New England and Buffalo beat NY in the last 2 games of the season and stop them from reaching the playoffs. The 1st half of the season is a tough stretch for the Jets, followed by a favorable schedule in the 2nd half of the season. 2 AFC East division rivals in Week 16 and 17 will determine whether NY goes to the playoffs.

No matter how much of a Jets fan we are, we have to be realistic with our expectations going into the season. And it looks like a .500 season. Check back at the end of the 2016 season to see that I’m right.
